Installation and Interface

The VoIP phone service is part of a package deal with Earthlink Internet Access. There is little technological know how needed to set up or use this service. In fact, no new equipment needs to be purchased. Earthlink takes care of everything as far as making sure installation is painless for the customer.

Earthlink customer service can be easily contacted if there is a hiccup during installation or if there is any confusion about the documentation.

Features

Earthlink Internet features DSL, so that is how the VoIP system will run. Amazingly, there are 11 calling features that are included in the Earthlink DSL and Home Phone service (VoIP) package. Some of these included features are Voice Mail, 3-Way Calling, Caller ID, Click-to-Dial, and Do Not Disturb.

An additional feature is myVoice, a virtual assistant. This is a feature that is found in similar competitor business packages, thought Earthlink VoIP is geared toward residential customers. The myVoice Web site allows the customer to view his/her calling records, addresses, and Voice Mail. This is great record keeping for those who are unable to do his/her own.

There are features that the customer can add on if he/she desires. Some of these that are available from Earthlink are Enhanced Call Forwarding and Call Shield. These will incur an additional monthly fee above and beyond the DSL charge.

Performance

Though Earthlink voice is relatively new, the company is not new to Internet solutions. Earthlink is taking this know-how and offering a quality service for a low price. The performance is similar to that of a far more expensive telephone company. In addition, the system is so easy to use that even a person new to using this kind of technology will be able to do so.

Service and Support

Earthlink is meticulous with their online documentation. There is a FAQ section that answers many questions. If the customer still has questions, concerns, or comments he/she is able to click a button on the website during specified hours and chat live with a representative. Otherwise, he/she can contact Earthlink at their customer service number. The representatives are award winning and are sure to provide all of the support the customer needs.
